The successful candidate will be self motivated with a professional approach and must have experience of a payroll bureau / working in the payroll department of a firm of accountants. 

Main duties

  • Processing of client payrolls on SAGE 50 Payroll and IRIS Payroll Professional - completion and submission for approximately 100 payroll clients ranging from 1 employee to 50 employees (weekly, fortnightly, four weekly and monthly processing)
  • Pension Assessment and upload for auto enrolment – setting up pension scheme, processing of automatic enrolment duties for payroll clients, advising on payments and eligibility
  • Use of online payslip software
  • Payment of direct debits for client’s on HMRC website
  • Obtaining relevant payroll information from clients to enable the timely and accurate processing of their payrolls
  • Year-end adjustments and submissions
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of all software used: SAGE payroll, IRIS payroll, other IRIS software, Microsoft office, as well as HMRC legislation (particularly payroll) to be able to assist other team members and advise clients.
  • Telephone/email support for clients with queries on payroll
  • Advising clients when necessary on Auto enrolment, RTI and Statutory payments
  • SMP/SPP/ SSP and other statutory calculations – must understand manual calculations
  • Calculate holiday pay
  • Completion of monthly CIS returns
  • Setting up new payroll schemes with HMRC and uploading new clients on to system mid year
  • Design and implementation of additional payroll systems to increase the efficiency and improve the profitability of the business

Skills required
