Helping the region’s SMEs grow

14-May-2014 Jan McDermott & Co Chartered Accountants has signed up to help SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in the region to grow and prosper through the Business Advisory Service (BAS).

The BAS is an initiative run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. As members of the Institute, Jan McDermott & Co offers free business advice to local companies.

Company Director Jan McDermott says “SMEs are the lifeblood of the economy and I love working with innovative and vibrant businesses that sometimes just need a bit of advice to get them over the next hurdle.

“Through the BAS we can help businesses with their financial obligations and also advise on their businesses planning and long term sustainable growth.

“It gives me great pleasure to see a thriving business community around me and this is driven by successful and growing SMEs.”

According to the Federation for Small Businesses, at the start of last year there were 4.9 million businesses in the UK with SMEs accounting for 99.9%. The BAS is designed to boost the prospects for a private sector-driven recovery by offering a helping hand to these SMEs and start ups across the country.
