Chartered Accountants Without the Jargon

Jan McDermott – Managing Director

Founded the company – 2005

Qualifications –FCA, Chartered Accountant

What’s your role within the company?
My role is to develop the business and make sure we deliver to our clients expectations. I ensure our clients are happy, and they always get what they need from an accountancy practice by keeping involved at all levels of the organisation.

I know each and every one of our clients personally – that’s how I like to operate, with a personable approach, so they know we are always here as their trusted advisor.

I’m currently in the process of developing a new service range, which will add considerable value to our clients, enabling them to grow their businesses more rapidly.

I’m also responsible for increasing new business, so I tend to get involved in strategic marketing and sales, ensuring our team understand our vision and where we want to be in five years’ time – which is the leading chartered accountancy in the North West, through excellent client experience.

What’s beyond the 9 to 5?
I grew up going to football matches as a child, and am now a season ticket holder at  Liverpool FC. I’m always up for a flutter at the races so spend lots of my free time on course. Outside sports I enjoy cooking for friends and family.

I get away when I can; the last places I visited were Dubai and New York.

What’s your proudest moment?

I’d have to say becoming a Chartered Accountant and becoming the President of the Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants.

What has been your biggest adrenaline rush?
Plunging down the black ski slopes of Val d'Isere.
